Physio on hand for Etchells crews
27/07/2010
Competitors in the 2010 Etchells Worlds who suffer injuries during the event which require physiotherapy treatment will be pleased to know that HYC has secured the services of Kathy Kavanagh, a highly experienced Chartered Physiotherapist who also holds a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy & Spinal Manipulations.

She is a specialist in back and neck injuries, the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries, acupuncture and sports massage. As an active sailor herself, she is familiar with the stresses and strains involved in sailing and has previously worked with national and county squads in a variety of sports.

Kathy will be on hand during the Championship to assess all injuries and to treat those competitors who present themselves with muscle spasms/ injuries, ligament sprains, joint and neural pain, tendinitis, etc. while more serious cases will be referred on to an appropriate specialist.

Her ‘clinic’ will be based in ‘The Galley’ off the Dining Room and will be open from 4.00pm to 8.00pm each day, operating on an appointment basis. However, competitors are advised that a triage system will be in operation in which more serious injuries, especially those requiring onward referral, will be given priority.
